Where was I back then?
I was super unfulfilled in my mainstream speech career. I felt so limited and shoved inside the SLP box. I felt like I couldn’t make a difference in my patient’s lives. I wasn’t seeing big results and I wasn’t growing professionally anymore. Last year, I was at my breaking point. I drove an hour in the pouring rain to my full-time clinic SLP job and sat there in my car, balling my eyes out. Every time I thought about walking in, I started balling more. I couldn’t imagine being there because I felt so stagnant, so exhausted and like I wasn’t growing or helping. I turned my car around and gave my notice. As soon as I quit, I noticed an immediate shift in my life. I started my private practice up again and got really serious about accelerating my mentoring business. I can’t express how happy I am now that I’m making a difference. It’s so rewarding to celebrate my patient's and client’s baby steps and victories with them. I wouldn’t go back to being stagnant for a second.
